What is the service

Support for parents of children aged 2-11.

Empowering Parents Empowering Communities (EPEC) helps children and families get the very best start in life.

Parents attend eight weekly two-hour sessions where they learn a range of practical communication skills that helps support parents to develop a connection and bond with their children. The sessions help parents bring up confident, happy and co-operative children by teaching practical communication skills for everyday life.

This is a free course for mums, dads and carers of children aged 2 to 11 years old.

There is also an opportunity to complete an Open College Network accredited workbook for parents attending this course.

What happens in the sessions?

Empowering Parents Empowering Communities courses are highly interactive, offering an engaging and creative blend of small and large group discussion, role play, demonstrations, information sharing and reflection.

Being a Parent covers topics such as:

  • Tools and strategies for positive parenting
  • Strategies for disciplining your children
  • Supporting parents to take care of themselves

The sessions also provide an opportunity to meet other parents and build networks in the community.
