Who is the training for?

This free training is aimed at early years practitioners who work with children aged 0-3 years in Lambeth.

Focus of the training

This training will enable practitioners to give consistent messages and advice to local families regarding oral health.

Problem being addressed

Oral health is an important part of general wellbeing. When children have poor oral health, it can affect their ability to sleep, eat, speak and play. Poor oral health can also mean that children may have to take time off nursery or school because they are in pain or need treatment.

Tooth decay is the most common disease affecting children.  By five years old, nearly a quarter of children have tooth decay, with an average of three teeth affected.

Tooth decay is the most common reason for hospital admission for children aged five to nine years old.
